Frequently Asked Questions

Hypnosis is a natural state of focused attention and heightened suggestibility, often accompanied by deep relaxation. It allows the unconscious mind to assist you in making significant changes in your life. During hypnosis, the conscious mind becomes less active, making the unconscious mind more accessible. This state is typically induced through various techniques known as “inductions,” which can include methods such as focused attention, relaxation, and visualization.

Once the hypnotic state is achieved, the hypnotherapist may use “deepening methods” to enhance the depth of the trance, bringing about a powerful and natural state of hypnosis. This state is somewhat similar to the R.E.M. (Rapid Eye Movement) stage of sleep, though it is not the same as R.E.M. sleep, nor is it actually “sleep.”

In the hypnotic state, individuals experience a sense of deep calm and increased openness to positive suggestions. These suggestions can help reframe negative thought patterns, alter behaviors, and address various psychological and physical issues. Hypnosis is commonly used to manage stress, reduce anxiety, overcome addictions, improve sleep, and facilitate weight loss, among other applications.

The effectiveness of hypnosis relies on the client’s willingness to participate and trust in the process and hypnotherapist. It is important to note that hypnosis is not mind control; rather, it is a collaborative process where the hypnotherapist guides the client towards their desired outcomes. The client remains aware and in control throughout the session, able to remember and reflect on the experience afterward.

By leveraging the power of the unconscious mind, hypnosis can help individuals achieve lasting change and personal growth.

Our session lengths vary depending on the type of hypnotherapy service you select. Please note that session times may occasionally vary (be slightly shorter or longer) due to the nature of the hypnotherapy techniques used and your unconscious mind’s response. The frequency of hypnotherapy sessions varies depending on your individual needs, goals, and the type of issues being addressed. Typically, clients start with more frequent sessions and gradually decrease as progress is made. Here are some general guidelines:

  • Initial Phase: In the beginning, you might see your hypnotherapist once a week. This allows for a thorough assessment and the establishment of a strong therapeutic foundation.
  • Middle Phase: As you start to see progress, sessions may be spaced out to every two weeks. This phase focuses on reinforcing positive changes and addressing any ongoing challenges.
  • Maintenance Phase: Once significant progress has been made, sessions might be scheduled monthly or as needed. This phase helps maintain the improvements and provides support for any new issues that arise.

Each client’s journey is unique, and the hypnotherapist will work with you to create a personalized treatment plan that suits your specific needs. Regular sessions help ensure continuous progress and support throughout your therapeutic journey. If you have any questions about scheduling or frequency, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us.

Determining if hypnotherapy is right for you depends on your personal goals, challenges, and openness to the process. Here are some key points to consider:

  1. Willingness to Participate: Hypnotherapy requires an open mind and a willingness to participate in the process. If you are open to exploring your unconscious mind and ready to make positive changes, hypnotherapy can be highly effective.
  2. Types of Issues: Hypnotherapy can address a wide range of issues, including anxiety, stress, addiction, weight management, phobias, and more. If you are struggling with any of these, hypnotherapy may provide the support you need.
  3. Personal Goals: Whether you want to improve your confidence, overcome a fear, or change a habit, hypnotherapy can help you achieve your personal goals. It works by unlocking the power of your unconscious mind to facilitate change.
  4. Complementary Approach: Hypnotherapy can be used alongside other treatments and therapies. It can enhance the effectiveness of traditional therapy, medical treatments, and self-improvement efforts.
  5. Commitment to the Process: Like any therapeutic approach, hypnotherapy requires commitment. Regular sessions and practice of techniques learned during sessions can lead to significant improvements.
  6. Safety and Comfort: Hypnotherapy is a safe and non-invasive method. Our certified hypnotherapists ensure a comfortable and supportive environment where you can explore your issues and work towards solutions.

Important Note: If you have been diagnosed with any of the following conditions, please contact us directly prior to booking your assessment:
  • Schizophrenia
  • Epilepsy
  • Dissociative Disorder

These conditions do not necessarily prevent you from receiving services. We simply need to assess the diagnosis, your current state, and any safety measures that would need to be taken. We reserve the right to refuse services if we feel that a condition is not within our scope of practice, for your own protection. If you have any doubts or questions about whether hypnotherapy is right for you, we encourage you to schedule an initial consultation. During this session, we will discuss your goals, answer any questions, and help you determine if hypnotherapy is a suitable approach for you.

At Rowland Hypnosis Centers, we specialize in online hypnotherapy sessions, offering a convenient and effective approach to achieving your goals from the comfort of your own space. Over the years, we have found that clients tend to have better outcomes with online sessions, as they can relax more deeply and comfortably in their own environment. Relaxation and comfort are key components of achieving a great trance.

Online Sessions: Our hypnotherapy sessions are conducted exclusively online, ensuring that you can access our services from anywhere. Here’s how our sessions are structured:

  1. Pre-Session Discussion: Each session begins with a 15-20 minute discussion about your progress since the previous session. This time is used to assess your current state, discuss any new concerns, and determine the next steps in your therapeutic journey.

  2. Collaborative Planning: We collaborate with you to decide on the focus of the session. Whether it’s addressing a specific issue or working toward a particular goal, we ensure that each session is tailored to your needs.

  3. Trance Induction: Once the plan is established, your hypnotherapist will guide you into a trance state using proven induction techniques. Being in your own space enhances relaxation and comfort, which are crucial for achieving a deep trance.

  4. Therapeutic Interventions: During the trance state, various therapeutic interventions are used to help you move toward your agreed-upon goals. This may include direct suggestions, visualization, and other hypnotherapeutic techniques.

  5. Flexibility in Approach: There may be times when more discussion is needed, especially if you are in distress or facing a mental block related to your goal. In such cases, your hypnotherapist may utilize other techniques, such as indirect hypnotherapy or Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), to work towards your goal without traditional trance.

Our online hypnotherapy sessions are designed to be flexible and responsive to your needs, ensuring that you receive the best possible care and support throughout your therapeutic journey. If you have any specific requirements or preferences for how your sessions are conducted, please let us know, and we will do our best to accommodate them.

We currently utilize Google Meet for all sessions, though we are working toward providing differing options for tele-hypnotherapy services.

At Rowland Hypnosis Centers, we adhere to the highest standards of professional practice in hypnotherapy. It is important to understand the scope of what hypnotherapy can and cannot do in terms of diagnosing, treating, or prescribing.

Diagnosing: As hypnotherapists, we do not diagnose medical or psychological conditions. Diagnosis is a specialized process that falls under the purview of licensed medical professionals, such as doctors, psychologists, and psychiatrists. Our role is to support clients in addressing specific issues or goals through hypnotherapy, but we do not provide formal diagnoses.

Treating: Hypnotherapy is a complementary and alternative therapy that can be highly effective for a variety of issues, including stress, anxiety, habit change, and personal development. While we do not treat medical conditions in the same way a physician or psychotherapist might, we use therapeutic techniques to help clients achieve their goals and improve their well-being. Hypnotherapy can be a valuable tool in managing symptoms and fostering positive change, often in conjunction with other treatments.

Prescribing: Hypnotherapists are not licensed to prescribe medications. Prescriptions must be managed by a licensed medical professional. If we believe that medical intervention is necessary, we will refer you to an appropriate healthcare provider who can evaluate your needs and prescribe the appropriate treatment.

Our Approach: Our approach focuses on working collaboratively with clients to identify their goals and develop personalized hypnotherapy sessions to support those goals. We utilize a range of techniques, including relaxation, visualization, and therapeutic suggestions, to help clients make meaningful changes in their lives.

Collaboration with Healthcare Providers: We often work in collaboration with other healthcare providers to ensure that our clients receive comprehensive care. If you are under the care of a physician or mental health professional, we encourage you to inform them about your hypnotherapy sessions to ensure coordinated care.

If you have any specific concerns or conditions, please discuss them with us during your initial consultation so we can determine the best approach to support your needs. Our primary goal is to help you achieve your desired outcomes in a safe and effective manner.

Ego State Transformation is a powerful therapeutic approach used in hypnotherapy to address and integrate various aspects of a person’s personality. This technique is based on the concept that our personality is composed of different “ego states,” each with its own set of behaviors, thoughts, and emotions. These ego states can sometimes be in conflict with one another, leading to internal struggles and psychological distress.

Understanding Ego States: Ego states are distinct parts of our personality that develop in response to different experiences and situations throughout our lives. For example, you might have an ego state that represents your confident, professional self and another that embodies your playful, childlike self. While these states are usually harmonious, certain life experiences can cause them to become fragmented or conflicting, resulting in issues such as anxiety, depression, or behavioral problems.

The Role of Hypnotherapy: In Ego State Transformation, hypnotherapy is used to access and communicate with these different ego states. Through a relaxed and focused state of hypnosis, the hypnotherapist guides the client to explore and identify various ego states. This process helps in understanding the origins, roles, and functions of these states.

Steps in Ego State Transformation:

  1. Identification: The first step involves identifying the different ego states that are present within the individual. This can be done through direct communication with the unconscious mind during a hypnotic state.

  2. Dialogue: Once the ego states are identified, the hypnotherapist facilitates a dialogue between the client and their various ego states. This helps in understanding the needs, motivations, and conflicts of each state.

  3. Integration: The goal is to harmonize and integrate these ego states so that they work together rather than in opposition. This may involve resolving past traumas, addressing unmet needs, and fostering cooperation among the ego states.

  4. Transformation: The final step involves transforming negative or problematic ego states into more positive and functional ones. This transformation allows the individual to experience a greater sense of inner peace, self-coherence, and overall well-being.

Benefits of Ego State Transformation:

  • Improved Self-Awareness: Clients gain a deeper understanding of their internal dynamics and how different aspects of their personality influence their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors.
  • Enhanced Emotional Regulation: By resolving internal conflicts and integrating ego states, clients often experience improved emotional regulation and reduced psychological distress.
  • Greater Personal Harmony: Ego State Transformation fosters a sense of harmony and balance within the personality, leading to more consistent and adaptive responses to life’s challenges.

Applications: Ego State Transformation is particularly effective for individuals dealing with trauma, complex emotional issues, and personality conflicts. It is also beneficial for those seeking personal growth and a deeper understanding of their inner selves.

At Rowland Hypnosis Centers, our trained hypnotherapists are skilled in Ego State Transformation techniques and are committed to helping clients achieve greater harmony and well-being through this transformative approach. If you are interested in exploring this powerful therapeutic technique, please contact us to learn more and schedule a session.

Therapeutic Age Regression is a hypnotherapy technique used to help clients revisit and re-experience past events from their lives, often from childhood or earlier periods. This process allows individuals to access memories, emotions, and experiences that may be influencing their current behavior, emotions, and thought patterns. By addressing these past experiences, clients can gain insights, resolve emotional conflicts, and promote healing.

Understanding Age Regression: Age regression involves guiding a client into a hypnotic state where they can regress back to a younger age or a specific past event. This does not involve actual time travel but rather a vivid re-experiencing of memories and emotions from that time. The hypnotherapist uses various techniques to help the client access these memories in a safe and controlled manner.

The Process of Therapeutic Age Regression:

  1. Induction: The session begins with inducing a state of deep relaxation and focused awareness, also known as a hypnotic trance. This state allows the client to access their unconscious mind more easily.

  2. Regression: The hypnotherapist then guides the client back to a specific age or event in their past. This is often done by asking the client to recall particular sensations, feelings, or memories associated with that time.

  3. Exploration: Once the client has regressed to the desired age or event, they are encouraged to explore their thoughts, emotions, and experiences from that time. This exploration can help uncover hidden or repressed memories and feelings.

  4. Resolution: The hypnotherapist works with the client to process and resolve any negative emotions or conflicts that arise during the regression. This might involve re-framing the memory, offering new perspectives, or providing comfort and support to the younger self.

  5. Integration: The final step involves integrating the insights and healing gained from the regression into the client’s current life. This helps to create lasting positive changes and improve overall well-being.

Benefits of Therapeutic Age Regression:

  • Emotional Healing: By addressing unresolved emotions and traumas from the past, clients can experience significant emotional healing and relief from psychological distress.
  • Insight and Understanding: Age regression can provide valuable insights into how past experiences shape current behaviors, thoughts, and emotions, leading to greater self-awareness.
  • Behavioral Change: By resolving past conflicts and negative patterns, clients can achieve positive changes in their behavior and improve their relationships and quality of life.
  • Enhanced Coping Skills: The process helps clients develop healthier coping mechanisms and emotional resilience by understanding and resolving the root causes of their issues.

Applications: Therapeutic Age Regression is particularly effective for clients dealing with trauma, phobias, anxiety, depression, and unresolved childhood issues. It can also be beneficial for those seeking personal growth, self-discovery, and improved emotional well-being.

At Rowland Hypnosis Centers, our experienced hypnotherapists are skilled in the techniques of Therapeutic Age Regression and are dedicated to helping clients achieve profound healing and transformation.
